Flora of course not, I am sure everyone here sends their good wishes, and your friend will be in my prayers tonight! my best friends family is going through hell at the moment his baby grandaughter is in intensive care because of a very nasty virus which has caused her lungs to collapse she has just turned 1 year old. this is doubly devastating for the family because she has contracted the same virus that killed his first born son nearly 40 years ago. please could everybody rmember them and baby Derya in their prayers and thoughts. It seems too cruel that they could lose two babies to this thing. I feel so helpless and unable to help them, I hope you all don't mind me bringing this here. Flora

Flora, I'm so sorry about what is happening. And to such a young child. I send good energy and support that everyone makes it through this difficult time. Best wishes.

Dear Flora, do not feel helpless . You are a caring person, i can tell by your post. First remember, things are medically different then they were years ago. Next remember everyone must stay positive, not if this precious child will be healed, but when. Miracles happen all the time. Please share with you friends this. My brother was born in the 1950's at three pounds missing some major pieces of intestine. After doing everything Dr's could do they sent him home on a bed pillow, they told mom and dad make him feel loved, let him pass with family and love... Well let me tell you , my brother is now awaiting the birth of his first grandchild this spring. I have chills writing this. There is no rhyme or reason for his being here, Dr's are still perplexed. Come back here any time for support. you will be added to my prayer list along with this family. Allow yourself some kindness, you are doing exactly what, as humans we should do, No one is an island. xoxoRileysmom

Not to add false hope, but I have similar stories to rileysmom's post. My dad was diagnosed with a heart problem as a child and was told he would not live very long. He is now 77 years old and plays tennis most days. A previous boss of mine had breast cancer since she was in her 20's. She still fights it, but she is almost 60 years old.
It's interesting because both people have developed an amazing outlook toward life. Kind of a "live every moment as it comes" outlook.

Ahh... this breaks my heart. It's so hard watching a child go through anything. Many prayers sent their way. Blessings!

just an update on this and a thankyou for your thoughts prayers and time in thinking of this poor child and her family. it really is appreciated i can assure you. I have told my friend that i posted this on here and he is very grateful to you all for your kindness.
Baby Derya has lasted the day without getting any worse, although she hasn't actually got any better either we are hoping the fact that it hasn't got any worse is a good sign that her poor little body is fighting back.
She is on IV meds, drip etc but is managing so far without a ventilator ( due to the state of the NHS if she needs a ventilator she would have to be transfered 200 miles to the nearest one, obviously not a safe journey for such a poorly little one) so that in itself is hopefull, she is labouring but stable.
she hasn't been conscious but has spent much of the time in the arms of her mummy and daddy, heaven help them! the poor people must be going through real hell .
I will let you all know how she is tomorrow and once again thankyou lovely people for your time thoughts and prayers XX

I will send healing thoughts but I am a Jewish Humanist so no prayer. However, may your young friend find healing through science, doctors, and positive energy.
